Important PAT Testing Information
PAT Testing is normally carried out in shops, businesses, council and public sector organisations, rental property, care homes. Anywhere where there are employees or where people reside or rented in public sector accommodation.
Although not a legal requirement the Electricity at Work regulations, ACI (Association of Chief Engineers) and insurer companies recommend PAT testing to ensure the safety of appliances being used in the workplace and safety at Work etc. Act 1974 puts a duty of care upon both employer and employee to ensure proper safety of equipment being used in the premises.
PAT Testing is part of a good health and safety management. Some councils require PAT testing of furnished properties before letting to tenants, similarly many insurance companies will give a discount if equipment or the premises is PAT tested.
